Everyone develops a personal rule after enough time on the road.
Mine is never unlocking doors until I confirm the rider name.

Another habit I developed over time is always keeping the car in drive and being ready to move if a situation starts to feel wrong.

I have heard a lot of drivers say that staying alert at pickups is one of the most important safety habits.

Curious what other personal rules drivers here follow after enough time on the road.

One rule I stick to is confirming the rider name before unlocking the doors.

It seems simple but it prevents a lot of problems, especially late at night or in busy pickup areas.

One rule I’ve stuck to over the years is trusting your instincts.

If something about a pickup or situation feels off, it’s okay to cancel the ride and move on. Most drivers eventually learn that the uneasy feeling usually has a reason behind it.

Safety has to come before ratings or bonuses.
