MOUNT HOPE, Bronx (WABC) — Police are looking for the gunman behind what appears to be New York City’s first homicide of the year in the Bronx.

A rideshare driver was found shot to death with gunshot wounds to his head, inside his car, along Morris Avenue in Mount Hope.

Stories like this are always difficult to read as drivers. Situations like this remind all of us how important situational awareness is while working rideshare.

One habit I have developed is trusting my instincts before starting a ride. If something feels off when a passenger approaches the vehicle, I do not hesitate to cancel and move on.

Curious what safety habits other drivers here rely on during late night rides or in unfamiliar areas.
